INSPIRING HOPE IN CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO
An opioid epidemic has shattered families and frayed the fabric of our community on an unprecedented scale. Clermont County has been named as one of 11 “hot spots” for opioid misuse in Ohio and averages at least one opiate overdose death a week. Heroin overdose deaths more than doubled in the county between 2009 and 2013 and from 2000 to 2010, drug overdose deaths in Clermont County increased by 2,350 percent.
The mission of the Clermont County Opiate Task Force is to minimize opiate misuse, distribution, addiction, overdose and deaths. Through collaboration between community organizations, government officials, professionals and concerned citizens, we can make an impact on this pressing public health and public safety issue addressing the four key focus areas:
- Increasing the availability of treatment and recovery housing
- Preventing opioid abuse
- Reducing harm caused by the opioid epidemic
- Cutting the supply of heroin in Clermont County
